Chinchero, Moray and Maras Day Tour with Ollantaytambo
The trip in one paragraph
This tour is for travelers who want the farming and salt side of the Sacred Valley: the circular terraces of Moray and the white salt pans of Maras, plus the big Inca sites. It suits people with one valley day who want to tick off as much as possible and do not mind a 6:20 a.m. start. If you prefer fewer stops, more time at each and the Pisac market, book the classic Sacred Valley day tour. If you want Moray and Maras on an ATV, see the Maras and Moray ATV tour.
Plateau first, valley after lunch
The morning stays on the high plateau above the valley. Chinchero comes first, with its Inca walls and a textile center. Then Moray, three great bowls of circular terraces that the Incas likely used to test crops at different temperatures. Then Maras, where thousands of small salt pools fed by a salty spring step down the hillside, still worked by local families. After lunch in Urubamba you drop to the valley floor for the Ollantaytambo fortress, and the last stop is Pisac on the way back.
What to expect
Six stops in one day means less time at each, and Pisac comes late, when the light is low. You see more variety than on any other valley tour we run. For the background of each site read Maras salt mines and Moray explained.
Price
One price for everyone: US$127 per person, shared service, with transport, guide, four site entries and lunch. The Maras entry is paid on site. There is no hotel tier because you sleep in your own Cusco hotel. Groups who want their own departure get a quote through the free quote form.

Still have questions?
Everything we get asked about this package before people book.
How is this different from the classic Sacred Valley tour?
This tour adds Moray and the Maras salt pans and drops the Pisac market. You get six stops instead of four, with less time at each, and an earlier pickup. Both cost US$127. Choose this one for variety and the classic one for a slower day at the big Inca sites.
Is the Maras salt mines entry included?
No. The salt pans belong to a local community that charges its own entry, about US$6 per person per our data, paid on site. The Tourist Ticket in the price covers the other four sites of the day.
What is Moray?
Moray is an Inca site of three large circular depressions lined with stone terraces. The lowest ring is warmer than the upper ones, so many researchers think the Incas used it to test crops in different microclimates. You walk around the rim with your guide.
Is this tour VIP or private?
No. Despite its old name, it is a shared departure with a bilingual guide and a buffet lunch. If you want a vehicle and guide only for your group, ask for a quote through the form.
Can I buy salt at Maras?
Yes. Families who work the pools sell salt in small bags at the entrance, including pink salt and salt with herbs. It packs light and makes a good gift. Bring soles in cash.
