Terms and cancellation policy

Booking and payment

A booking is confirmed when we have agreed the itinerary and the price in writing and you have paid a deposit of 30 percent of the trip price. The balance is paid on arrival in Peru, before the first service. Payments are made by card through a payment link we send you, with any major card, or in cash. Every payment gets a receipt, and the confirmed itinerary lists the hotel names, the train times and the services included.

Tickets bought in your name

Machu Picchu entrance tickets, train tickets and Inca Trail permits are bought under your name and passport number as soon as the deposit is paid, because dates sell out. Machu Picchu entrance tickets are not refundable once issued. Train tickets are refundable minus the penalty the railway charges. Inca Trail permits cannot be changed, transferred or refunded once issued.

Cancellation and refunds

If you cancel 30 days or more before the start of the trip, you receive a refund. Machu Picchu entrance tickets already issued in your name are not refundable, and train tickets are refunded minus the railway penalty, as stated above. Tell us in writing, by email or WhatsApp, and we confirm the refund in writing.

Strikes, landslides and closed roads

If a strike, a landslide or a closed road prevents a service, the trip is rescheduled. We move the dates, rebook the services and tell you the moment we know. Costs charged by train companies or hotels for changes outside our control are passed on at cost.

Shared and private service

Tours are shared by default: a small group with one licensed guide, which is what the published prices cover. Private service is available on request and quoted per trip, with the simplest outings from US$50. The written confirmation states which service you booked, and we never describe a shared tour as private.

What is not included

International flights, the flight between Lima and Cusco, travel insurance, tips and the optional Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain tickets are not included unless the itinerary says so. We recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation, medical care abroad and altitude.

The company
