Lay all of our Peru trips side by side on a table, from the shortest at 6 days to the longest at 15, and a pattern jumps out. Lake Titicaca appears at 8 days. Bolivia appears at 10. The Colca Canyon appears only at 15. Each extra day does not add a little of everything. It opens one more region, and it usually costs you sleep or comfort somewhere else.

This page is the master list. One table holds all sixteen of our tours between 6 and 15 days, with the route, the highest point, where you sleep each night and the starting price read from each package page. After the table, each length gets a short section on who it suits and what it leaves out. For a day-by-day plan, follow the links to our itinerary guides, which already do that job.

Three things in the table are worth a second look. First, price does not grow in a straight line with days. The 12-day ceremony trip starts at US$1,377 and the 10-day Andes trip at US$1,720. They carry different things: the 10-day trip includes a flight over the Nazca Lines, and the 12-day trip spends one of its nights with a family on Amantaní instead of a hotel. The 11-day Peru and Bolivia trip costs less than the 10-day one, and its page explains why: the hotel mix differs, not the services. Read the price as a price for a route, never as a daily rate.
Second, the highest point tells you the hardest day. Any trip with Rainbow Mountain tops out at 16,522 ft (5,036 m), the altitude in Peru's official tourism inventory, and that day starts at 4 a.m. The Bolivia trips with the full Uyuni circuit reach about 15,900 ft at the Sol de Mañana geysers and sleep one night in a lodge near Laguna Colorada at about 14,000 ft. The trips without either stay at or below 14,222 ft (4,335 m), the La Raya pass on the road to Puno.
Third, count the bus nights. Several trips save a hotel night by riding a night bus, from Cusco to Puno or from La Paz to Uyuni. A bus night is cheaper and gains you a day. It also costs you a night of real sleep at altitude, and that is the trade the table makes visible.
Is a 6-day Peru tour enough?
Six days is enough for Machu Picchu, Cusco and one more thing, and that one thing is the choice. Our two 6-day trips split on it. Lima and Machu Picchu in 6 days, from US$880, gives the extra day to the coast: the Ballestas Islands and the Huacachina dunes. Machu Picchu and Humantay Lake in 6 days, from US$1,028, starts in Cusco and spends it on two high day hikes, Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain.
Who it suits: travelers with one week of vacation, counting the flights. The Lima version is the gentler one and ends in Cusco. The Cusco version is for people who hike at home and want mountains more than ocean.
What you lose: Lake Titicaca, Nazca and any slack. Cusco gets one afternoon on the Lima trip. On the hiking trip, two early starts in a row land on days 4 and 5, with Rainbow Mountain the day after Humantay.
What does a 7-day Peru tour add to six days?
A 7-day Peru tour adds the Nazca Lines. Peru in 7 days, from US$900, follows the 6-day Lima route and inserts a night near Nazca with a flight of about 45 minutes over the figures, then returns to Lima before Cusco. For twenty dollars more than the 6-day trip at Essential level, you get the most photographed desert in South America from the air.
Who it suits: first-time visitors who want the three famous names of southern Peru (Nazca, Cusco, Machu Picchu) in a single week. What you lose: rest. Day 2 is a long road day and day 3 adds about 9 hours on a coach back to Lima, then an early flight to Cusco. If two long days in a row sound like a bad start to a vacation, take the 6-day version. Our 7-day Peru itinerary guide sets out both weeks day by day.
Which 8-day Peru tour should you pick?
At 8 days you choose between the lake and the mountain. Lima, Cusco and Lake Titicaca in 8 days, from US$1,097, rides the night bus from Cusco to Puno after Machu Picchu and spends two days on the lake with a night on Amantaní. Peru in 8 days with Nazca and Rainbow Mountain, from US$1,190, keeps the 7-day route and adds a third night in Cusco plus the Vinicunca hike.
Who it suits: the lake version fits travelers who care about villages and people, and do not mind a bus seat for one night. The mountain version fits hikers who also want the Nazca flight. What you lose: the lake trip gives Cusco a single night before Aguas Calientes, which is tight for altitude, and it skips Nazca. The mountain trip skips the lake and places its hardest day at the end of the trip, which is the right order for the body but leaves no buffer if the weather turns.
Who should book the 9-day Peru tour?
The 9-day tour is for hikers. Peru in 9 days with two Andes hikes, from US$1,660, is the 8-day mountain route plus Humantay Lake on day 8, so it has four nights in Cusco and two high days back to back: Rainbow Mountain at 16,522 ft (5,036 m) and Humantay at 13,780 ft (4,200 m).
What you lose: Lake Titicaca. Despite the "puno" in its web address, this trip never goes to Puno, and we say so because travelers ask. If you want the lake at nine days, the honest answer is to take the 10-day lake trip instead and give up one hike.
Which 10-day Peru tour fits your trip?
Ten days is where our trips split three ways, and it is the length we recommend for a first visit. The 10-day trip to Lake Titicaca, from US$1,347, adds a farming day near Cusco and goes to Puno by the daytime Sun Route instead of a night bus. Peru in 10 days with Nazca and the Andes, from US$1,720, is the 9-day hiking trip with an easy South Valley day between the two hikes. Peru and Bolivia in 10 days, from US$1,817, runs from Lima to the Uyuni salt flat.
Who each suits: the lake trip suits most first-timers, because the altitude climbs in the right order and nobody sleeps on a bus. The Andes trip suits fit travelers who want Nazca and two summits. The Bolivia trip suits travelers who already know they handle altitude, because it uses two night buses and gives Cusco one afternoon. Our 10-day Peru itinerary guide compares the three day by day.
What do 11 and 12 days add to the trip?
Eleven and twelve days buy you either more of Bolivia or more of everything in Peru. Peru and Bolivia in 11 days, from US$1,647, adds a 4x4 day south from the salt flat to Laguna Colorada, crossing the Siloli desert at about 15,010 ft. Peru and Bolivia in 12 days, from US$2,047, runs the full three-day Uyuni circuit with the lagoons and the geysers at dawn. The 12-day ceremony trip, from US$1,377, stays in Peru and fits the coast, a farming community, Rainbow Mountain, the Sun Route and two lake days into one trip.
Who it suits: the 12-day Peru trip is the most complete single-country trip we sell under two weeks, with five nights in Cusco and no night buses. The Bolivia trips suit travelers chasing the salt flat. What you lose: the two Bolivia trips keep the Peru half short, with one Cusco night before Aguas Calientes and a night bus to Puno, and the lodge near Laguna Colorada has blankets but no heating.
Are 13 or 14 days the right length for Peru and Bolivia?
Yes, if Bolivia is half the reason for the trip. At 13 and 14 days the Peru half slows down. Machu Picchu and Uyuni in 13 days and Peru and Bolivia in 2 weeks, both from US$3,247, swap the Cusco to Puno night bus for the daytime Route of the Sun, keep a single night bus in Bolivia, and run the full Uyuni circuit. The 14-day trip adds the Ballestas coast at the start.
Who it suits: travelers who want both countries without arriving at Lake Titicaca after a night on a bus. What you lose: the Cusco region still gets only two nights plus one in Aguas Calientes, so there is no high day hike, and the price at this length sits well above the Peru-only trips. For a Peru vacation of 2 weeks without Bolivia, look at the next section instead.
What does a 15-day Peru tour cover that shorter ones cannot?
A 15-day tour is the only length that reaches Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, or that pairs Rainbow Mountain with the full Uyuni circuit. Complete Peru in 15 days, from US$2,084, travels south and up by road: Nazca, Arequipa at 7,660 ft (2,335 m), Chivay at 11,926 ft (3,635 m), Puno, then Cusco for six nights with Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake. Peru and Bolivia in 15 days, from US$3,057, adds Rainbow Mountain to the 14-day Peru and Bolivia route.
Who it suits: the Complete Peru trip suits anyone worried about altitude, because it climbs in steps over a week before Cusco, and it ends with the city at the right moment for the hikes. What you lose: road time. The coach from Nazca to Arequipa runs about 9 hours and the bus from Puno to Cusco about 10. You trade two domestic flights for two long, scenic days. Our 2-week Peru itinerary guide lays out both two-week routes night by night.
What stays the same at every length?
Every trip in the table includes the same core, so the length changes the route and never the basics. Each one has hotel nights in the tier you pick with breakfast, every transfer, Machu Picchu on Circuit 2 with a licensed guide and the ticket in your passport name, the PeruRail train (Expedition out and Vistadome back on the Lima routes) and the Consettur bus up and down. None of them includes international flights, most dinners, tips or insurance. Moving up a hotel tier changes only the hotels, never the guides or the trains.

How to choose the length before the route
Count your nights in Peru first, then pick the region those last extra days open up. Two rules settle most cases. Give the Cusco region at least three nights before any hike above 13,000 ft. And put Lake Titicaca after Cusco, never before, because Puno sits higher at about 12,556 ft (3,827 m). The CDC advises raising your sleeping altitude by no more than 500 m (1,640 ft) a night above 3,000 m, and every route in the table respects that order.
If you are still deciding how many days to take off work, our how many days in Peru guide has a day counter. For what each length costs once flights, dinners and tips are added, see the Peru trip cost guide. All sixteen trips also appear in our Peru vacation packages and all-inclusive Peru packages pages, where you can send a free quote request for your dates. Questions people ask
What is the best length for a Peru tour?
Ten days, for a first visit. It fits Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca in the right altitude order, with a night in Aguas Calientes and no night bus on our 10-day lake trip, from US$1,347. Shorter trips drop the lake, and longer ones add Bolivia, Nazca or the Colca Canyon.
Is a 6 day Peru tour worth the trip?
Yes, if Machu Picchu is the goal and you have one week of vacation. Our 6-day trip from Lima, from US$880, covers the Ballestas coast, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu with a night in Aguas Calientes. It skips Lake Titicaca and gives Cusco a single afternoon, so plan to come back for the rest.
Can I see Lake Titicaca on a 7 day Peru tour?
Not on our 7-day route, which uses the extra day for the Nazca Lines. The shortest trip of ours with Lake Titicaca is 8 days, from US$1,097, with a night bus from Cusco to Puno and a night on Amantaní. To reach the lake without a night bus, take the 10-day lake trip.
Is 2 weeks enough for Peru?
Two weeks is enough for the whole southern loop. Our 15-day Complete Peru trip, from US$2,084, covers Lima, Nazca, Arequipa, the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake. What it does not cover is the Amazon or the north of Peru, which need their own week.
What is the cheapest Peru tour package?
Among our trips of 6 days or more, Lima and Machu Picchu in 6 days is the cheapest, from US$880 per person in a double room as of October 2026. From Cusco, shorter Machu Picchu trips start at US$597 for 2 days. Flights are extra on all of them.
Why is a longer Peru tour sometimes cheaper?
Because the price follows the route, the hotels and the services, not the number of days. Our 12-day ceremony trip starts at US$1,377 while the 10-day Andes trip starts at US$1,720 and includes a flight over the Nazca Lines. On some routes, night buses and a homestay replace hotel nights, which also moves the price.
Which Peru tours include Bolivia?
Six of ours: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 days, from US$1,647 to US$3,247. All cross at Kasani by road from Puno to Copacabana and La Paz, and all reach the Uyuni salt flat. US passport holders do not need a Bolivian tourist visa since December 2025, per our Bolivia guide.
Do Peru tour packages include domestic flights?
Not ours. You book the Lima to Cusco flight, and on lake trips the flight home from Juliaca, or from Uyuni or La Paz on the Bolivia routes. We tell you which flights to take so they match the pickups, and we quote them on request.
How many nights in Cusco should a Peru tour have?
At least three, counting Aguas Calientes, before any hike above 13,000 ft. Our hiking trips give Cusco four to six nights. Shorter trips with one or two Cusco nights skip the high hikes for that reason. The CDC advises raising sleeping altitude by no more than 500 m a night above 3,000 m.
